This project was one of both new and existing elements. Coastal Woodenworks located in Cumberland, BC did a fantastic job of designing this lovely and functional kitchen around some existing architecture. The feature of this bright space is clearly the swooped, radiused hood vent cover which turned out perfectly. We applied a water based polyurethane topcoat that will happily resist oils, steam and pretty much anything that it will encounter in it’s life above a cooktop. The colour chosen for it, our house-white, contrasts the natural walnut so well. The walnut is coated with an environmentally friendly conversion varnish that allows the wood to oxidize naturally. This means in years it will show its own beauty while still being protected from abrasions, chemicals, oils and acids. We take our coatings extremely seriously and choose the materials we use based not on the cost to us but the quality we can provide our clients.
